Design and create festive designs such as a Christmas basket, an advent wreath, a table display with a candle and a pine Christmas door wreath using seasonal foliage and materials. Flowers/materials to be purchased weekly by students at a cost of £15-£20.
You will need to provide the sundries and flowers each week at an approx. cost of £15, some materials can be purchased from the tutor.

Mossing. Wiring. Arranging flowers in foam. Learning names of materials used. Creating different designs to a good standard.

How you will be assessed on this course
There will be interactive teaching and learning activities shared with students by the tutor including demonstrations, use of technology, Word Clouds, glossary of terms, quizzes, reflective diaries, observation, discussions, direct questioning, self-assessment, working in pairs or groups, working together to develop and challenge what you have learnt, finding out what you can do well and what you could do to improve.

What you need for your course
Florist or garden scissors. All floral items including flowers, foliage and sundries. Sundries are available from Hobbycraft, e-bay, Amazon, some florists and online florist wholesalers.
What you need to bring to the first class
Note book and pen, gift style basket, floral foam for fresh flowers, pot/anchor tape, foliage and a mixture of seasonal festive flowers, i.e. 4 stems of carnations, 2 x chrysanthemums , spray carnations, small gerbera or bunch of miniature roses, this could also be purchased as mixed bunch flowers from supermarkets. Any decorations such as baubles, ribbon, pine cones etc.

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and ILP.
