Course description

Learn all the skills required to design wedding flowers or make just for fun. Covering all areas of design including wired buttonholes, wedding bouquets and table displays. Flowers to be purchased weekly by students at a cost of approximately £15.

You will need to provide all materials for each week.

Buttonholes. Hand tied Wedding bouquet. Table arrangement. Bridesmaid posy.

How you will learn on this course

You will have a demonstration at the beginning of each class and then you will have practical experience of making the design yourself, you will also receive some handouts.

How you will be assessed on this course

 

There will be interactive teaching and learning activities shared with students by the tutor including demonstrations, use of technology, Word Clouds, glossary of terms, quizzes, reflective diaries, observation, discussions, direct questioning, self-assessment, working in pairs or groups, working together to develop and challenge what you have learnt, finding out what you can do well and what you could do to improve.

What you will be expected to do outside your lesson time

Research of each design is recommended.

What you need to bring to the first class

Note book and pen. 1x carnation, 1 x rose, 1 x germini, small leaf foliage such as ivy leaves, 1 x stem of gyp, green stem tape (gutta tape or parafilm) silver wedding wires, green .71 gauge wires.

Additional information

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and ILP.
