Course description

An introductory course in Microsoft Word, covering creating, editing saving and printing of documents. Knowledge gained can be transferred to professional and personal use.

What you need to join the class

a) guidance needed: A willingness to enhance your existing knowledge. b) entry requirements: An ability to use a computer.

What the course will cover

The course will cover creating, editing, formatting and printing of documents for personal and professional use.

Teaching and learning activities

Explanation from the tutor. Plenty of practical hands-on. Information sheets. Practice tasks. One-to-one tuition where necessary.

What you will be able to do by the end of the course (Course objectives)

1. Creating documents 2. Saving documents 3. Enhance the appearance of data using the formatting icons. 4. Editing documents 5. Printing documents 6. Change the page orientation from portrait to landscape. 7. Cut, Copy and Paste. 8. Change the margins. 9. Find and Replace information. 10. Change the paper size. 11. Change the line spacing. 12. Carry out a spell check. 13. Insert Headers & Footers.

Additional information - General

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor may ask you to complete a Student Learning Record (SLR) and agree your personal learning goals. This paperwork is a requirement of the College’s Quality Improvement Programme.
