Course description

A CPD course for those with a Level 2 qualification or equivalent, for stylists who have been out of the industry for a while or those who would like to refresh and further develop their hairdressing skills. Perfecting classic techniques to cuts including Bobs, Long Graduation, Pixie and Asymmetrical. Students will need to provide their own equipment and protective clothing. This course will run for 5 consecutive days.

Entry requirements

An interest in home baking using basic and quick methods.

What you will learn

1. Making and baking a yeast bun dough. 2. Making and baking a biscuit mixture. 3. Making and baking a ‘quick mix’ sponge mixture. 4. Making buttercream. 5. Following step by step recipe instructions .

How you will learn on this course

1. Demonstrations – whole class and one to one. 2. Explanations. 3. Student practical.

How you will be assessed on this course

1. Make Hot cross buns, Simnel biscuits and Easter nest cupcakes. 2. Follow basic recipes.

What you will be expected to do outside your lesson time

What you need to bring to the first class

A pen. A list of ingredients will be sent out 10 days before the start of the course. Students will need to bring an apron, tea towel plus suitable containers to take home their baking. The baking freezes well.

Additional information

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and ILP.
