Practising Yoga promotes health and wellbeing helping you to overcome and prevent many stresses, strains, aches and pains. Learn and develop postures, gentle flow, breathing techniques, relaxation and meditation.
To be comfortable during your yoga session make sure you haven’t eaten a heavy meal for at least 2 hours before. Bring plenty of water to drink. Wear comfortable sport clothes and take off jewellery that may cause discomfort during your practise. You can bring your own mat if you prefer. A blanket will be lovely for the relaxation in order to keep your body warm during the last 15 minutes of the class.
What you will learn
The Practise of Yoga consists of Four Elements. Students will learn basic Breathing exercices and how to combine them with postures. we will practice some warm up routines such as ( Cat routine,Sun Salutation, Spirit Salute) in order to prepare our body to hold Postures ( Asanas) in Sanskrit such as (Triangle, Warrior, downward facing dog, Tree pose). Day: Wednesday Starting: 1 May End Date: 10 July Duration:10 weeks The class will end with a fifteen minutes ‘’Yoga Nidra’’( relaxation with guided meditation).
How you will learn on this course
Students will be encouraged to practise at home and share their experience with the the teacher and the other students. Yoga emphasises a non-competitive policy called Ahimsa, so remember to treat your body with care and respect, try not to compete with others, the best posture that you can do at any time is the perfect posture. We will look at the techniques for proper alignement. I will talk about some origins of yoga and propose books or internet yoga links if people are interested.
How you will be assessed on this course
There will be interactive teaching and learning activities shared with students by the tutor including demonstrations, use of technology, Word Clouds, quizzes, reflective diaries, observation, discussions, direct questioning, self-assessment, working in pairs or groups, working together to develop and challenge what you have learnt, finding out what you can do well and what you could do to improve.

What you can do next
You can continue the experience of yoga and try to move to a next level class ( Vinyasa flow) or you can try a meditation class or a Restorative Yoga class . Please make sure that you are reading all the tasters classes on offer in the beginning of each term as you can get a chance to try any of your choice. Namaste.
Additional information - General
At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete a Student Learning Record (SLR) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and SLR.
