Need a class that caters for specific health issues or you cannot get down on to the mat to exercise? Keep your mobility and range of movement with this chairbased exercise. Try this out to see if it is the right class for you.
This is a special beginner’s taster rehabilitation class for anyone with any condition/illness that they feel prevents them from joining a mainstream keep fit class. It is also appropriate for anyone recovering from an illness/operation who is nervous and not confident about starting exercise again and feel they need special help and encouragement. You will be asked to complete a declaration of health form at the first lesson. Students are advised to speak to their doctor if they have a health problem and may be required to produce a letter to say that they are fit to exercise.
What you will learn
This session will cover a series of exercises that will help mobility, flexibility, strength and endurance, with special reference to the correct breathing techniques that will improve circulation and lung function.
How you will be assessed on this course
There will be interactive teaching and learning activities shared with students by the tutor including demonstrations, use of technology, Word Clouds, quizzes, reflective diaries, observation, discussions, direct questioning, self-assessment, working in pairs or groups, working together to develop and challenge what you have learnt, finding out what you can do well and what you could do to improve.

It is important to try and keep moving and do some regular exercise if you can at home or out and about.

Wear layers of loose clothing, a sweatshirt you can take off, t-shirt, joggers, suitable trainers/supportive footwear, a towel and a drink.

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and ILP.
