It is never too early or too late to start learning how we can get help to prevent or delay disease and disorders by practising activities to relieve stress. Discover your individual creativity and experience various ways to exercise the memory, learn the benefits of eating well and the importance of sleep. Participate in gentle exercise to relax the body and mind, combined with varied activities whilst socialising with others.
No entry requirement - beginners welcome.
Bring a hair band or grips to keep hair from face and a small towel. All ages and genders welcome. An interest in keeping the body and mind in the best condition possible whatever age we are.
What you will learn
Power Point lectures and discussions covering the importance of sleep and good hydration to keep mind and body healthy.
The reasons why some foods should be included regularly in our meals; why, how and when we eat.
Simple steps to make the foods we already eat be more easily absorbed and beneficial.
The importance of releasing our individual creativity. We will experiment with various activities which may help realise hidden talents; learn to laugh and enjoy each other’s company.
The importance of socialising.
‘Time for tea’ will include trying various health -giving infusions to hydrate and help heal the body.
We will learn how to self -massage the face and hands to help keep joints supple and reduce the signs of aging.
We will make our own pot of cream including essential oil to suit individual needs.
We will also do some gentle exercise to calm the mind and yet energise the body.
The benefits of de-cluttering your life.
How you will learn on this course
Lectures and discussions with the visual aid of Power Point slides.
Learn the basics of how the body works. Discover possible reasons for common diseases and disorders: many symptoms can be delayed or reduced if precautions are taken now.
Various games will be played to improve memory. Learn which oils to vaporise to improve memory
Learn how to self- massage to improve circulation and skin condition. Tutor will demonstrate.
Experiment with different Essential Oils blended in a base cream for use in class and at home.
How you will be assessed on this course
There will be interactive teaching and learning activities shared with students by the tutor including demonstrations, use of technology, Word Clouds, quizzes, reflective diaries, observation, discussions, direct questioning, self-assessment, working in pairs or groups, working together to develop and challenge what you have learnt, finding out what you can do well and what you could do to improve.

What you need for your course
A small contribution for a glass pot, base cream and Essential oil drops. Other materials can be provided by tutor or bought at small cost from Hobbycraft or stationers.
What you need to bring to the first class
Note book and pen. Hair band or grips if needed to keep hair away from face when practicing therapeutic facial massage. Towel to protect clothing when massaging hands or face.

Additional information - General
At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete a Student Learning Record (SLR) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and SLR.
