Course description

Create your own range of jewellery, learning techniques using copper and brass and develop your skills to create finished pieces in precious metals and using semi precious stones.

What you will learn

Beginners will make a sawn pendant, a silver ring, a silver textured pendant, silver bangle a gem set ring, pendant, earrings or cuff-links Continuing students will also extend their skills by producing their own designs and trying more advanced decorative techniques. (Please note these items may be subject to change at the Tutors discretion.)

How you will learn on this course

Beginners will be taught in a small group, following a structured course, with demonstrations worksheets and short lectures. Students will make Jewellery using increasing advanced techniques.

How you will be assessed on this course

1. Make a sawn pendant 2. Make a silver ring. 3. Make a silver textured pendant. 4. Make a silver bangle. 5. Make a gemset ring, pendant, earrings or cuff-links. Work on own projects and designs.

What you need for your course

Students may buy a few basic tools of their own. The workshop is well equipped. Cost of materials initially is modest and if learners wish can remain so. THE COST OF SILVER FLUCTUATES.

What you need to bring to the first class

Note pad, pen. PLEASE NOTE THE STUDENTS WILL BE CHARGED FOR MATERIALS USED> But will be advised where to obtain materials should they wish to purchase their own.

Additional information

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and ILP.
