Course description

Max. 1 child (7+) per adult. An good opportunity for parents, carers and children to work together making wonderful original Christmas Gifts and decorations using simple hand building pottery techniques suitable for learners and children. All students will be taught at beginner level

What you will learn

Simple pottery making techniques suitable for beginners and children.

How you will learn on this course

Demonstrations, instructions, samples, discussion and feedback. All pieces will be decorated, fired and glazed.

How you will be assessed on this course

1. Learn how to join clay shapes together. 2. Learn how to add colour and decoration. 3. Learn how pottery is fired.

Qualification and exam information (only for courses leading to a qualification)


What you will be expected to do outside your lesson time

None required but students will be encouraged to research projects using the internet especially You Tube etc. If students have special projects these can these can be incorporated into the course.

1. An apron or old clothes. 2. Enthusiasm. 3. Desire to learn. (All equipment and materials will be provided).

Additional information

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and ILP.
