Course description

Max 1 child (7+) per adult. Designed for families with young children who want to learn a second language in an informal and relaxed atmosphere, and have fun at the same time. PLEASE NOTE: The adult whose enrolment details we have MUST be the adult who attends with the child(ren) each and every session of the course.

Entry requirements


What you will learn

Basic greetings, numbers, colours, animals and pets, days of the week, months, food and drink, parts of the body and saying what you like/dislike.

How you will learn on this course

With the aid of video games, songs and flash cards. There will be group work and parent and child interaction . In a small group, tutor-led, with opportunities for questions and hands-on practice.

Greet someone in French and introduce someone else

Count up to 20/30

Say the date

Say when my birthday is

Recognise and name the colours

Say I have a pet

Describe animals and pets briefly

Recognise and name some food and drink items

Be able to place an order in a restaurant

Recognise and name parts of the body and say I am in pain

Recognise and name some hobbies

Say what I enjoy doing (hobbies)

Express a like and a dislike

Have an awareness of the gender of words (masculine and feminine)


Be able to use some forms of the verbs avoir, être, aimer, vouloir

Additional information

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and ILP.
