Course description

Max. 2 children (6+) per adult. Learn to make a variety of delicious edible gifts like chocolate truffles, marzipan fruits and peppermint creams! On this one day session, you will be able to assist your child(ren) to produce a range of sweet treats and pack them ready to give as a wonderful Christmas gift. We will have a lunch break part way through so please bring something to eat with you in case the canteen is closed. Please note that at the beginning of the course learners will take part in an induction to the College and the course. They will be asked to complete a Student Learning record (SLR) which will help learners to reflect and monitor their progress. The tutor will use this information to check learning and plan their lessons. PLEASE NOTE: The adult whose enrolment details we have MUST be the adult who attends with the child(ren) each and every session of the course.

1. Work safely and hygienically in a kitchen environment. 2. Follow a recipe. 3. Weigh and measure ingredients. 4. Use a variety of food preparation skills. 5. Produce a selection of edible sweets from a range of different food ingredients. 6. Prepare a gift box. 7. Be aware of food allergies.

Additional information

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and ILP.
