Course description

Max. 2 children (6+) per adult. This is a beginners course. Produce delicious Easter Nest Cakes and cute decorated Bunny Biscuits. Recognise how to work safely in the kitchen and use a range of culinary skills.

Entry requirements

No previous knowledge is required.

What you will learn

1. Quick mix cake making. 2. Making buttercream. 3. Simple piping. 4. Cut out biscuit making. 5. Making glace icing. 6. Decorating biscuits.

How you will learn on this course

1. Demonstration. 2. Explanation. 3. Student practical.

How you will be assessed on this course

1. Make and bake quick mix chocolate sponge cup cakes. 2. Make chocolate buttercream. 3. Pipe chocolate buttercream onto the cup cakes and add mini chocolate eggs. 4. Make, cut out and bake a biscuit mixture. 5. Make a flavoured, coloured glace icing. 6. Apply glace icing and decorate bunny biscuits.

1. Aprons. 2. Tea towel. 3. Dish cloth. 4. Large containers to take your cakes and biscuits home in.

Additional information

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and ILP.
