Course description

Create your own healthy treats for puppies and dogs of all ages, using ingredients to tempt, offering healthier alternatives that can be used to train and reward your dog throughout life.

No previous experience required.

What you will learn

Make tried and tested biscuits and muffins for your pooch. We will make flaxseed and peanut crunches, beef bites, turkey and cheese muffins and dog butterfly cakes. All the recipes are quick and easy to make and the size of the biscuits can be adapted to suit your dog. • Making and baking dog biscuits • Making and baking dog muffins • Decorating dog butterfly muffins Please note that at the beginning of the course learners will take part in an induction to the College and the course.

How you will be assessed on this course

1. Make and bake 2 types of dog biscuits. 2. Make and bake 2 types of dog muffins. 3. Make ‘dog buttercream’ and decorate one set of muffins to make butterfly cakes.

What you need for your course

All ingredients provided and sets of recipes to work with in class. Recipes can be forwarded to learners electronically after the course. If your dog has any known allergies please inform the College so alternatives ingredients are supplied. A list of ingredients in each recipe can be supplied if necessary.

What you need to bring to the first class

1. Apron 2. Tea towel 3. Dish cloth 4. 2 Large containers to take your dog muffins home in. Sealable polythene bags will be provided for the dog biscuits. 5. A pen

Dog training courses or general cookery courses.

Additional information

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor may ask you to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and agree your personal learning goals. This paperwork is a requirement of the College’s Quality Improvement Programme.
