Course description

This course is not for the complete beginner and will require practice outside of the classroom.

Successful candidates on this 8-week course will learn how to create and edit professional-looking email messages, maintain calendars across time zones, and schedule tasks for a variety of purposes and situations. Candidates will use Outlook 2016 to enhance professional correspondence, create calendars, and schedule appointments. Application examples include coordinating building resources, sending messages for marketing campaigns, planning staff meetings, and assigning meeting actions

What you need to join the class

a) guidance needed: All students must have attended the Introduction to Digital Skills course in order to progress onto this course. Tthe first session will outline the course details with you. b) entry requirements: Students enrolling on this course will be expected to sit an English and Maths Initial Assessment prior to being accepted onto the course. You can book your Initial Assessment online at www.tlcbexley.ac.uk. It is quick, simple and a confirmation e-mail will be sent to you. Alternatively you can call 020 3045 5176, quoting the course you are interested in and the course code, or visit one of our centres. Initial Assessment is conducted to assess that you have the correct level of English and Maths necessary for the course and where required additional support can be put in place to help you succeed. 1.1     Teaching and learning activities

Demonstration, discussion and explanation from the tutor, group interaction with tutor and peers. Learners will receive instruction sheets, handouts, practice exercises via the VLE and one-to-one tuition. Students will need to do reading and practice exercises outside of class independently.

Examination or qualification (if applicable) including costs. The course fee usually includes examination costs: registration with the exam board, certification and administration fees. If the fees are not included, the brochure will tell you this.

There will be one online exam at the end of the course.  The course fee includes the exam fee. There will be an additional charge of £45 for any exam resits during the course. N.B. All Candidates must provide ID prior to registration. Please bring one of the following along to the first session: • Passport. • EC identity card. • Full driver’s licence (with photo).

Work expected outside lesson time (e.g. homework, assignments, etc.)

At least 2 hours’ practice at home or at the College’s Open Study Centre at Brampton Road is essential.

Additional information - General

At the beginning of the course, you will have an induction to the College and the course. Your tutor will ask you to complete a Student Learning Record (SLR) and agree your personal learning goals. All documents are a requirement of the Funding Agency, who expect that learners who enrol on a course leading to a qualification will take that qualification at the College. All students on courses funded by the ESFA must complete a Learning Agreement and SLR.
