Introducing students to the different ways of effectively supporting teaching and learning in schools, this course aims to give an insight into the role of learning support staff and some of the resources and techniques that can be used to assist children with developing skills in literacy, numeracy, ICT and across the wider curriculum. This course also includes an introduction to the common elements of safeguarding in schools.
Training will be carried out within the classroom by projects, role play, group discussions, research and pair work. It will equip students with an introduction to the skills required to work in a school environment. The students will build a portfolio using various sources of evidence from classroom sessions and homework tasks. The portfolio will be submitted for assessment at the end of the course.
