For some courses you need to come to an assessment before you can enrol. This will help you pick the right course for your skill level.

What you will need to bring to your assessment

If claiming a concession please bring your evidence documentation


The pre-course assessment can last up to two hours. At the assessment, you will:

  • do an assessment, which will identify your current level in English, maths and your subject knowledge and are  part computer-based, paper-based and includes a discussion with a Curriculum Manager and/or Tutor
  • tell us about your past achievements and long-term goals
  • find out more about the course
  • find out where and when the courses run
  • tell us if you need extra support
  • We will tell you your skill level at the end of the assessment
