How many LEARNERS are there in A CLASS? What is the staff/pupil ratio?
Group sizes may vary but for Entry Level it is usually between eight and ten students depending on the individual support needs within the group. There is always a Tutor and Teaching assistant are allocated according to the individual needs of the students. Are LEARNERS supervised DURING lunch/break times?
Parents/carers routinely comment favourably on our inclusive environment. Learners are encouraged to mix with others in order to develop social skills and are supervised during all breaks and lunch times. Depending on the needs of the individual student this could be 1:1 or through group support. WHAT TYPE OF EXPERIENCE DO STAFF HAVE?
Our staff are knowledgeable and experienced in working with students who have learning difficulties and disabilities. Teaching staff have also taught in a wide variety of settings including PMLD, MLD and SLD schools and different educational settings. All staff – whether teaching or support – take part in continues professional development and which includes working with external practitioners. There is a well-respected observation and professional development programme in operation which was judged to be Good by Ofsted inspectors in their report in 2021/22. What does the college do to support the learners wellbeing & personal development?
Learners are supported with their wellbeing and personal development through access to a varied curriculum including tutorials, enrichment, wellbeing activities and lunch clubs. Learners also have access to our internal counsellor who can provide individualised support and therapies. |
